EBook Review: What Young don't tell
"Our parents do say out lives are complete, but that's exactly what we fear: to end up like them. Work, earn, and die - where's our immortality?"
Name: What the Young don't tell.
Author: Mohit Jain
Publisher: Notion Press
Format: Kindle Edition/Paperback
Just like the quote above, this book is like a bridge for the generation gap between today's youth and their parents, a sneak peak into the mind of current generation. It a story of Aaayan, right from his childhood to adult life. The book is divided in to five different phases; comprising of Innocence, Love, Lust, Soul and Destiny. Journey of Aayan in finding himself, and of how he found his calling of becoming a writer.
The book explores in detail, thought process of the young generation and how they think and act.Author has very well described the innocence of a child and faith in his mother and his childhood best friend Bianca. Emotions of separation, yearn, loneliness are well highlighted in the Ayaan and Bianca's story, since fourth grade to their separate lives in different cities and meeting again after eight years. Author has very well maintained the balance between love and friendship in entire book. The writing is free flowing and language used is easy. Development of the sub character done neatly.
Although other characters are developed well, I feel protagonist's could have been better developed. Also the career path chosen by Aayan in the end was out of the blue, there were no details of how the thought crossed his mind, given the whole book is about changes in the thought process protagonists. There are some parts in where the book is unnecessarily details which gets tedious. Even though the author has divided the book in five parts, I feel it could have been better if there were chapters in all those parts, that would have given readers break to absorb small stages of his life.
Conclusion: recommend to people who like to read journey of self discovery and those who ruminate on the meaning of life.
Rating: Its 3/5 for me.
